This was an interesting book, and not your normal vampire love story.
Twins raised alone in the mountains, away from civilization, living in a cabin with their nanny/tutor. Their father comes in at night, spends time with them, teaching them mountain skills. Their father's friends teach them tracking and hunting. Their mother isn't in the picture. Their father is an enigma to them, but they love and respect him. They are given rules to follow and if the rules are broken there are severe consequences.
Father explains he is a doctor working in a lab trying find the right genome string in DNA to cure a disease and they were given everything by the man employing him, from the cabin they live in, to the clothes on their backs and their education.
The twins are very close. Apollo and Amaya. They're getting ready to turn eighteen, but being raised away from civilization, this birthday is just like any other day, except it's not.
Very interesting how this story is so far but so close to other paranormal series. I'm forever amazed at how the imagination truly is endless. There are circumstances concerning the questioning of loyalties, acts of true love, mysterious undercurrents that need explanations and at the end of the book, you're ready to jump head first into the next one! GREAT read for the young adult in your house!
