Book Review - In The Dark by Farleigh Greyson

Book Title:  In The Dark
Author:  Farleigh Greyson
Genre:  Sci-Fi, Paranormal

Farleigh Greyson has recently entered into the foray of newly self-published authors.  This is her first book and I must say, I'm looking forward to many more.

The way Ms. Greyson has told her story is a new spin on the old myths of the werewolf and the "pack mentality".  She also gives enough originality to her story to keep it interesting. Her characters, which are several, are not your "cookie cutter" wolves.

I would like to encourage Ms. Greyson to write more about the main characters in future novels.  I would also encourage her to give us more back-story concerning her supporting characters.  For example,  I just found it too coincidental that one werewolf would find a long lost and even unknown grandchild without a "poof" of some kind to explain it.  Another item to pay attention to, was in the "intel" department.  It was just too easy to get "intel" without repercussions.  The "bad guy" was really "built up" to be horrendous, but we never saw, per se, his ruthlessness because of the "large red wolf" that managed to save the day. Later though no wolf could smell him/her or acknowledge it's presence.  This is where, I assume, another book is sure to come out.

The plot of this book was great.  The interactions between the pack members known as "The Guardians" was wonderful and the explanation of their existence was well explained, especially  since the wolves in this particular story didn't follow the "pack/Alpha" Scenario.

The character match-up of Marek and Zoe works very well and I wish could have gone more in depth somehow to explain and define the instant attraction.  I would also have liked to see Zoe interact more with the pack than just the members she lived with.  Also, she's a computer whiz whose delegated to kitchen cook.  You mean in this day and age the pack has medical personnel but they aren't in need of new computer programs?  Zoe seems a little "Barefoot and Pregnant" in her new role after joining the pack and I think she could play a much bigger role seeing as how she and Marek kept referring to themselves as equals, but he goes on about "his female" and "My Mate".  Perhaps a little more equality?

All that said, this is a great first outing from Ms. Greyson and I look forward to reading more from her and to watch her and her characters grow.
